Online taxpayers to be rewarded with rebate
In his budget speech for FY 2020-2021, Finance Minister AHM Mustafa Kamal said that the government has given highest priority to digital transformation of the Income Tax Department.
He said, "We hope that we will be able to materialise this digital transformation in the quickest possible time, and as an outcome, our valued taxpayers will be able to pay taxes and also file income tax returns online with utmost ease and comfort."
To popularise the option of online payment of taxes and online submission of tax returns, the Finance Minister proposed a tax rebate of Tk2,000 to those who will file their income tax returns online for the first time.

He hoped that this would highly encourage taxpayers to submit their income tax returns online, which would in turn expedite the process of digital transformation of the Income Tax Department.
