Ansar VDP reforms aim to benefit people and nation says DG in Chattogram
The Director-General of the Bangladesh Ansar and Village Defence Party, Major General Abdul Motaleb Sajjad Mahmud, SGP, NDU, AFWC, PSC, engaged in a dialogue with all levels of force members during a durbar held in the Chattogram Range.
He outlined the future course and guided various issues, aligning with the force's multi-tiered goals and objectives to tackle the hybrid challenges of the new century.
In this significant visit, as part of a long-standing initiative to bridge disparities, the Director-General distributed 5,743 new blankets to Ansar members affiliated with various government, non-government, and financial institutions in Chattogram district. This marked the launch of a nationwide blanket distribution program for affiliated Ansar members. Sequentially, solutions to disparities and hardships affiliated Ansar members face, including health, rations, and pensions, are expected to be visible soon, InshaAllah. Comprehensive arrangements and coordinated efforts are in the final stages of establishing VDP/TDP leaders and members as entrepreneurs or creating employment opportunities. The force chief emphasised the importance of transforming the mindset of Ansar and VDP members to develop personal, professional, and institutional capabilities within their respective spheres and ensure prosperity.
He further stated that promotions or assignments would be determined based on professional competence, ethics, and contributions to the force's growth rather than external influences or factionalism.
Emphasising the importance of practical action and accountability at all levels of command to meet basic needs, the Director-General said, "It is time for us to identify the needs and difficulties of every member of the force and review our roles in addressing them. Our primary goals and objectives are ensuring transparency in our subordinates' hard-earned salaries, allowances, leave, and rations."
He further stated that VDP members must be inspired by the spirit of nation-building and public service and contribute to the country's security framework. They should coordinate with the local administration and other forces as worthy representatives of this force by contributing to social security development.
Expressing optimism about the role of Ansar-VDP members in ensuring social security in any part of the country, including the ongoing border situation, he said, "Our planned training programs will undoubtedly facilitate the path to bringing about positive socio-economic changes by creating new entrepreneurs at the grassroots level."
Dr Saifur Rahman, BBVM (Bar), PAMAS, Deputy Director General, Bangladesh Ansar and Village Defence Party, Chattogram and Hill Ranges, Chattogram, and 800 Ansar VDP officers, employees, and leaders from various levels were present at the event.
