Ignite Global Foundation: Greening Dhaka, empowering youth, and building a better Bangladesh

Ignite Global Foundation (IGF) has made significant strides in enhancing the community and environment of Dhaka. "Dhaka North City has a tree canopy coverage of 15.39%, while Dhaka South City has 10.31%. Experts advise a minimum of 25% coverage for a city to be deemed livable."

That's why IGF took this initiative 'Green Dhaka Initiative,' planting 1,200 trees across the city with the help of 250 volunteers on August 17, transforming areas like Bijay Sarani, Aftabnagar, and Agargaon into greener spaces.The aim of this initiative is to motivate and influence both youth and senior citizens. Muhammad Jahirul Islam, founder of Ignite Global Foundation, emphasised that "This initiative is intended to inspire and engage Bangladeshi youth, encouraging them to actively participate in green projects like this and work together towards making our city greener."

Their volunteers have also been involved in traffic management across key areas of Dhaka to enhance road safety and restore law and order. IGF has also spearheaded artistic initiatives, including graffiti and freedom-inspired murals on Dhaka's walls, symbolizing new beginnings and providing a platform for their volunteers to showcase their artistic talents. Additionally, IGF has taken responsibility for maintaining the cleanliness of significant national monuments like the Shaheed Minar, removing plastic waste, and promoting recycling to create a healthier environment. These efforts reflect IGF's commitment to sustainable urban development and community engagement.

Also, Ignite Global Foundation (IGF) fosters youth involvement, advocates for inclusive education, and provides sustainable living opportunities for underprivileged communities. Through collaboration with local governments and 23,000 volunteers, IGF has impacted 64 districts in Bangladesh, helping nearly 486,000 people and establishing 2 schools.IGF plays a key role in inclusive education by creating a supportive and child-friendly environment. Teachers at Ignite School are dedicated to meeting each student's unique needs and advancing progress toward the Sustainable Development Goals.
