Titas Gas removes 2,150 residential illegal gas connections in Keraniganj and Narayanganj
Titas Gas Authority, under the supervision of Executive Magistrates, is actively conducting operations to identify and remove illegal gas connections across various areas, including Keraniganj, Munshiganj, Narayanganj, Savar, Tongi, Gazipur, Dhanmondi, Mirpur, Gulshan, Mymensingh, Meghnaghat, and Narsingdi. The ongoing campaign aims to tackle the illegal use of gas, with operations taking place in Keraniganj and Narayanganj on 26 November 2024, resulting in the disconnection of 1 industrial, 1 commercial, and 2,150 residential illegal connections.
From September 2024 to 26 November 2024, a total of 11,534 illegal connections were disconnected, including 114 industrial, 69 commercial, and 11,351 residential connections, along with 30,509 burners. This has resulted in a daily saving of 8,563,625 cubic feet of gas, valued at approximately 40.89 lakh BDT.
As part of the operation in Keraniganj, Executive Magistrate Mr Milton Roy removed illegal connections from "Al Madina Restaurant" and an unnamed washing factory located at Chhunkutia Chaurasta in South Keraniganj. During this action, 45 feet of piping was removed, and Mr. Md. Shafiqullah (34) was sentenced to 15 days of rigorous imprisonment for his involvement. Additionally, 64 kilometres of pipeline have been removed as part of the ongoing efforts to address the illegal gas connection issue.
