UCB organizes agricultural training in Rangamati
United Commercial Bank PLC (UCB), in line with directives from Bangladesh Bank, has organized a day-long skill development training program for agricultural entrepreneurs in Rangamati district. Held on January 15, 2025, at the Rangamati Sadar Upazila Parishad auditorium, the event was part of UCB's Agro-CSR project, Bhorosar Notun Janala, which supports the agricultural sector.
Approximately 160 agricultural entrepreneurs from 10 upazilas of Rangamati attended the training. The inaugural ceremony featured Rezaul Karim Siddiqui, agricultural analyst and host of the popular Bangladesh Television program Mati O Manush, as the chief guest. He praised UCB's initiative aimed at fostering commercial agriculture and enhancing food security. Siddiqui emphasized that modern agriculture requires entrepreneurship, creativity, and strategic planning to succeed.
Siddiqui also highlighted the need for agricultural entrepreneurs to understand market demand, soil conditions, and profitable crop selection. He urged participants to focus on quality seeds, proper processing, and gaining market insights for better pricing.
Other notable speakers included Md. Moniruzzaman, Deputy Director of the Department of Agricultural Extension, Dr. Suporna De Simpu, Sadar Upazila Livestock Officer, Sheikh Md. Ershad Bin Shahid, Senior Upazila Fisheries Officer, and Adeshprio Borua, Sadar Upazila Agriculture Officer, along with UCB officials.
This training is part of UCB's wider efforts under Bhorosar Notun Janala, a program that has already reached 60 districts, aiming to reduce the gap between agricultural entrepreneurs and financial institutions. The program offers insights into agricultural loans, incentives, and financing opportunities to drive the growth of modern agriculture.
