Govt to honour 38 NRBs with CIP status
They will get various facilities for two years since the announcement of the notice
The government has selected 38 non-resident Bangladeshis (NRBs) to honour them with the commercially important person (CIP) 2018 status for their contribution to the country's economy.
The Ministry of Expatriates' Welfare and Overseas Employment published a gazette notification in this regard on Sunday.
The selected individuals will get various facilities for two years since the announcement of the notice.
They were selected as CIPs under three categories. One was selected as a CIP for industrial investment, 30 for sending the highest amount of remittances through legal channels and the remaining seven for importing Bangladeshi products abroad.
The facilities they would enjoy as CIPs include the permission to enter the Secretariat, invitations to participate in various national programmes, and priority booking of air, railway and waterway tickets for business purposes.
Furthermore, CIPs would get access to VIP lounges at airports, and their family members would get priority when booking cabins in government hospitals for treatment.
CIPs will get the benefits of foreign investors if they invest in Bangladesh and their investments will be protected according to the rules of foreign private investment.
Kallol Ahmed was declared the only CIP for industrial investment.
The 30 individuals declared as CIPs for sending the highest amount of remittances through legal channels are Md Mahtabur Rahman, Md Waliur Rahman, Md Touhidul Alam, Md Mahabub Alam, Zakir Hossain, Md Emadur Rahman, Abu Nayem Md Touhidul Alam Chowdhury, Md Monir Hossain, Jesmin Aktar, Ripon Dutta, Nigar Sultana, Nehal Roy Rahim, SM Yusuf, Abul Kalam, Mostafa Kamal, Md Nur Khan, Md Abdul Rahim, Kazi Sarwar Habib, Md Sydur Rahman, Md Adana Imam, Lutfur Rahman Munshi, Syan Jubayer, Md Akkas Mia, Md Mosaddek Chowdhury, Fakhrul Islam, SM Parvez Tomal, Nurul Islam, Md Eyasin Chowdhury, Md Jahangir Alam and Ashrafur Rahman.
The remaining seven CIPs for importing Bangladeshi products abroad are Kamal Ahmed, Md Selim, Nurul Alam, Md Sohel Rana, Marufa Ahmed, Belal Ahmed and Abul Kashem.
