Mobile court orders sale of stockpiled onions in Rajshahi
Court finds hundreds of sacks of onions at a Shaheb Bazar warehouse during market monitoring
A mobile court in Rajshahi has ordered a local trader to sell off 300 sacks of his stockpiled onions for Tk150 per kg within the next seven days.
Confirming the matter, Additional District Magistrate Abu Aslam said, "A mobile court conducted a drive at different markets in Rajshahi, including the Shaheb Bazar, on Sunday afternoon.
"We found 300 sacks of onions stockpiled in a warehouse belonging to a trader named Hasibul Islam. The court then ordered Hasibul to sell off his stock for Tk150 per kg within the next seven days."
The executive magistrate added that legal action will be taken against the trader if he does not comply with the order.
Abu Aslam further said, "Traders told the mobile court that they are selling onions for Tk200 per kg during the market monitoring drive. However, some customers complained that these traders usually charge them Tk230 240 per kg of onions.
"The traders were warned on the first day of the drive. They M" be punished for any irregularities during the next drive."
