Number of CA should increase: Commerce Minister
Icab president spoke for allotment of Rajuk Land for Campus and hostel, budget for Capacity Building, Automation Process etc
The number of Chartered Accountants should increase from current 2200 to 12000 as per the demand of the domestic market, said Commerce Minister Tipu Munshi on Wednesday.
He made this comment during a meeting with an Institute of Chartered Accountants of Bangladesh (Icab) delegation team led by its President Mahmudul Hasan Khusru FCA.
During the meeting, Khasru highlighted on the needs of Icab to the minister, including allotment of Rajuk land for academic campus and hostel for CA students, budget for Icab project on capacity building, automation process and other related issues for the development and flourishment of the chartered accountancy profession.

The other members of the delegation were Vice Presidents Md Abdul Kader Joaddar FCA and Maria Howlader FCA; Council Member Md Moniruzzaman FCA; Chief Executive Officer of Icab Shubhashish Bose.
The Minister envisaged the up-skilling of the profession to be in consistency with the international standards.
Mohammad Mashooqur Rahman Sikder, PS (Deputy Secretary) to commerce minister; Md Aminul Islam, deputy secretary of the same ministry were also present in the meeting.
