Rajshahi Krishi Unnayan Bank opens 382nd branch in Nilphamari

The Rajshahi Krishi Unnayan Bank on Thursday opened its 382nd branch under Nilphamari zone.
Muhammad Nazrul Islam, chairman of the bank's executive committee and former secretary, inaugurated the branch at Kherkatihat union of Jaldhaka upazila of the district.
The bank's Managing Director Idris Ali presided over the session, while former lawmaker Professor Gulam Mustafa attended the inaugural ceremony as special guest. Other senior officials of the bank and local administration also attended the event.
In his speech, Nazrul Islam said: "As the largest development partner in agriculture across the northwest region, Krishi Unnayan bank officials have been working relentlessly for overall development of farmers and all the sectors and sub-sectors of agriculture.
"The bank officials have also performed functions like financing agri-business and agro-based industries and poverty alleviation programmes," said the chairman hoping that the Kherkatihat Branch will perform as a catalyst to promote socio-economical life of local community.

The bank emerged as the government's plan of intensive care to agriculture of Rajshahi and Rangpur administrative divisions providing livelihood to 35 million people of the region.
The region is less developed compared to other parts, yet full of potential in the agriculture sector.
Rajshahi and Rangpur divisions, characterized by its surplus food grain production, are popularly called the "granary of the country". Besides catering to agricultural credit, the Rajshahi Krishi Unnayan Bank renders deposit banking services through all its branches.
The headquarters of the bank is stationed at Rajshahi city, some 270 kilometres to the north of Dhaka.
