SMEF to lend Tk17 crore to SMEs with single digit interest rate
SME clusters will get Tk17 crore as loan from the Small & Medium Enterprise Foundation with a rate of 9 percent interest
Six Small and Medium-sized Enterprise (SME) clusters and clientele groups in the country will receive loan worth Tk17 crore from the Small & Medium Enterprise Foundation (SMEF).
They can get the loans from Bank Asia with a maximum interest rate of 9 percent.
Under the Refinancing Scheme of Bangladesh Bank, the SME Foundation also has signed three separate agreements with Brac Bank to expand the foundation's credit wholesale programme.
SME Foundation Managing Director Md Safiqul Islam and Bank Asia President and Managing Director Md Arfan Ali signed the deals for their respective organisations at the SME Foundation auditorium in the capital today.
As of the agreement, enterprises of Bogura Shaoil Handloom Cluster will get Tk4 crore as loan in next five years.
Enterprises of Narsingdi Madhabdi Textile Clusters will get Tk3 crore, Kumarkhali Textile Cluster of Kushtia will get Tk2 crore, Munshiganj Garment Cluster enterprises will get Tk2 crore, Electrical clusters of Shyampur-Jurain and Kadamtali of Dhaka to get Tk4 crore, and female entrepreneurs of production and service sector will get Tk2 crore.
Each of the enterprises will get minimum Tk100,000 to Tk25 lakh as loan without any security.
Recently, Bangladesh Bank has permitted a refinancing scheme of Tk50 crore favoring SME Foundation. And a deal was signed between Bangladesh Bank and the foundation in this regard.
