Bourses post marginal gain at opening

Equity benchmark indices opened on a positive note and traded in the greens amid slipping turnover during the first one-and-half-hour trading session on Wednesday.

DSEX, the key index of DSE, rose 6.75 points – or 0.13 % - to reach at 5,123 in the corresponding period.
Moreover, the Shariah-based DSES index gained 1.02 points to settle at 1,169 and the blue-chip index DS30 increased 4.06 points to stand at 1,768.
Out of the 346 issues traded during the same time frame, 135 company's share prices advanced, 142 declined, and 69 remained unchanged.
Monno Ceramic Industries Limited was the most traded stock till filing of this report with shares worth Tk262 million changing hands, closely followed by Saiham Cotton Mills Limited, Nitol Insurance Co Limited, IFIC Bank Limited, Beximco Pharmaceuticals Limited, Bangladesh Export Import Company Limited and Provati Insurance Company Limited.
Meanwhile, the benchmark index CASPI at the Chittagong Stock Exchange (CSE) gained 14.82 points to close at 14,605 till 11:30 am today.
Of the total 196 issues traded till then, 86 gained, 68 declined, and 42 issues remained unchanged with Tk85 million in turnover.
