Cyber threats: DSE Mobile app made inaccessible at night
The restriction will be withdrawn as soon as the recently emerged cybersecurity threats go away
In the wake of recent cyber threats, the Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE) has made its trading app, DSE Mobile, unreachable at night.
Officials of the premier bourse said DSE Mobile cannot be accessed from 8pm to 8am. However, it would not inconvenience investors as they can put their trade orders during transaction hours in the daytime.
Also, they can check portfolio statements and access information on listed securities from 8am to 8pm, officials also said.
The cautionary move came into effect last weekend, they added.
A DSE official told The Business Standard that the cautionary restriction would be withdrawn as soon as the recently emerged cybersecurity threats go away.
In addition to analysing and monitoring the situation, he said they are observing what other financial sector entities are going to do.
Following the information in advance on the possible hacking attempt by a North Korean group at the end of August, the Bangladesh Bank advised all the commercial banks to take cautionary measures against cyber threats.
Banks responded to the threat through keeping their ATM booths closed during the night.
