DSE turnover soars despite lockdown extension
Equity indices of both the stock exchanges extended the gaining streak for the sixth straight session on Tuesday despite ongoing countrywide lockdown
Dhaka Stock Exchange's (DSE) turnover surged by 69% to Tk463.09 crore as most of the investors are actively buying shares, while the government has decided to extend the countrywide lockdown till 28 April.
Besides, equity indices of both the stock exchanges extended the gaining streak for the sixth straight session on Tuesday despite ongoing countrywide lockdown.
In the first trading hour today, DSEX, the key index of the DSE rose by 0.52% or 28 points to 5,378.
DSE had 164 gainers against 107 losers, while prices of 60 scrips remained unchanged till 11 am.
Beximco Limited secured the apex position in the turnover chart at DSE.
As per the sector-wise performance, banks share lost prices ahead of their annual earnings disclosure, while most of the insurance companies continued their gaining streak for the last few days.
Meanwhile, the benchmark index CASPI at the Chittagong Stock Exchange (CSE) gained 77 points to 15,548 till 11:00 am.
