Indices in red amid rising turnover
DSEX declined 10.76 points although turnover on the Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE) trading floor increased by 30% to Tk353.86 crore
Equity benchmark indices of the stock exchanges turned downwards in the first one-and-half-hour trading session on Monday amid low turnover as profit booking dominated a larger group of investors' decision making.
DSEX, the key index of DSE, declined 10.76 points – or 0.21% - to reach at 5,078 till 11:30 am.
Moreover, the Shariah-based DSES index lost 4.20 points to settle at 1,149 and the blue-chip index DS30 decreased 7.11 points to stand at 1,745.
However, turnover on the Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE) trading floor increased by 30% to Tk353.86 crore in the corresponding period.
Out of the 348 issues traded during the same time frame, DSE had 166 gainers against 128 losers, while prices of 54 scrips remained unchanged.
Rupali Insurance Company Limited was the most traded stock till filing of this report with shares worth Tk174 million changing hands, closely followed by Purabi General. Insurance Company Limited, Bangladesh Export Import Company Limited, Beximco Pharmaceuticals Limited, Federal Insurance Company Limited, and Bangladesh Export Import Company Limited.
Meanwhile, the benchmark index CASPI at the Chittagong Stock Exchange (CSE) came down 33.46 points to close at 14,495 till 11:30 am today.
Of the total 184 issues traded till then, 89 gained, 69 declined, and 26 issues remained unchanged with Tk61 million in turnover.
