Stocks down amid selling pressure
DSEX dropped 6.40 points or 0.16% to reach at 4,910 and CASPI lost 13 points to 14,021 till 11:30 am on Thursday
Equity indices of the stock exchanges witnessed a downward trend in the first one-and-half-hour of the last trading session of the week as the investors' balance adjustment and profit booking increased sell orders.
DSEX, the key index of Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE) dropped 6.40 points or 0.16% to reach at 4,910 till 11:30 am on Thursday.
Moreover, the Shariah-based DSES index fell by 5 points to 1,111 and the blue-chip index DS30 declined 6.59 points to 1,688.
Turnover, an important market indicator, on the DSE trading floor stood at Tk443.63 crore in the corresponding period.
Out of the 346 issues traded during the same time frame, DSE had 116 gainers against 176 losers, while prices of 54 scrips remained unchanged.
Meanwhile, the benchmark index CASPI at the Chittagong Stock Exchange (CSE) lost 13 points to 14,021.
Of the total 199 issues traded till then, 62 gained, 114 declined, and 23 issues remained unchanged with Tk11.5 crore in turnover.
