Stocks edge higher amid rising turnover
DSEX upturned 29.40 points or 0.60% to reach at 4,869 and CASPI rose 77 points to 13,915 till 11:30 am
Equity benchmark indices of the bourses reported to have traded in the green during the period of the first one-and-half-hour trading session on Wednesday.
DSEX, the key index of Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE) upturned 29.40 points or 0.60% to reach at 4,869 till 11:30 am.
Moreover, the Shariah-based DSES index gained by 11.77 points to 1,115 and the blue-chip index DS30 rose 14.29 points to 1,663
Turnover, a major market indicator, on the DSE trading floor has also increased by 7% to Tk273.55 crore in the corresponding period.
Out of the 352 issues traded during the same time frame, DSE had 194 gainers against 104 losers, while prices of 54 scrips remained unchanged.
Asia Pacific General Insurance Company Limited was the most traded stock till filing of this report with shares worth Tk182 million changing hands, closely followed by Bangladesh Submarine Cable Company Limited, Beximco Pharmaceuticals Limited, Walton Hi-Tech Industries Limited, Bangladesh Export Import Company Limited, and Continental Insurance Limited.
Meanwhile, the benchmark index CASPI at the Chittagong Stock Exchange (CSE) climbed 77 points to 13,915 till 11:30 am.
Of the total 179 issues traded till then, 90 gained, 59 declined, and 30 issues remained unchanged with Tk110 million in turnover.
