Stocks flat at open amid surging turnover
DSE turnover leaped by 45 percent to Tk466.38 crore till 11:30 am
Equity indices of the stock exchanges witnessed flat trading in the early session on Wednesday, although market turnovers are on the rise.
DSEX, the prime index of Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE), made slight advancement with 3.02 points – or 0.05 percent - to reach at 5,103 in the corresponding period.
Moreover, the Shariah-based DSES index went down by 0.48 points to settle at 1,170 and the blue-chip index DS30 decreased 1.92 points to stand at 1,759.
DSE turnover, a significant indicator of the market, leaped by 45 percent to Tk466.38 crore till 11:30 am.
Out of the 354 issues traded during the same time frame, 207 company's share prices advanced, 86 declined, and 61 remained unchanged.
Nitol Insurance Co Limited was the most traded stock till filing of this report with shares worth Tk232 million changing hands, closely followed by United Power Generation & Distribution Company Limited, Confidence Cement Limited, BBS Cables Limited, Asia Insurance Limited and Bangladesh Export Import Company Limited.
Meanwhile, the benchmark index CASPI at the Chittagong Stock Exchange (CSE) decreased 4.53 points to close at 14,522.
Of the total 210 issues traded till 11.30 am, 116 gained, 55 declined, and 39 issues remained unchanged with Tk104 million in turnover.
