Stocks open positive amid low turnover
DSEX rose 10 points or 0.20% to settle at 4,856 and CASPI gained 37 points to 13,861 till 11:30 am
Equity indices of the stock exchanges witnessed an upward shift amid slipping turnover during the first one-and-half-hour trading in the first session of the week.
DSEX, the prime index of Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE) rose 10 points or 0.20% to settle at 4,856 till 11:30 am.
However, the Shariah-based DSES index slightly fell by 0.40 points to 1,098 and the blue-chip index DS30 lost 3.78 points to 1,676.
Turnover, a major indicator of the market, on the Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE) trading floor, dropped by 36% to Tk285.77 crore in the corresponding period.
Out of the 347 issues traded during the same time frame at DSE, 165 company's share prices advanced, 105 declined, and 77 remained unchanged.
Meanwhile, the benchmark index CASPI at the Chittagong Stock Exchange (CSE) gained 37 points to 13,861 in the corresponding period.
Of the total 161 issues traded till then, 79 gained, 42 declined, and 40 issues remained unchanged with Tk6.3 crore in turnover.
