Stocks tumble amid low turnover
DSEX dropped 6.65 points or 0.13% to reach 4,907 and CASPI lost 26.94 points to 14,002 till 11:30 am
Equity indices of the stock exchanges saw a downward trend in the first one-and-half-hour of the first trading session of the week.
DSEX, the key index of Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE) dropped 6.65 points or 0.13% to reach 4,907 till 11:30 am.
Moreover, the Shariah-based DSES index lost 2.22 points to 1,111 and the blue-chip index DS30 declined 6.46 points to 1,685.
Turnover, an important market indicator, on the DSE trading floor fell by 12% to Tk389.27 crore in the corresponding period on Sunday.
Out of the 348 issues traded during the same time frame, DSE had 143 gainers against 147 losers, while prices of 58 scrips remained unchanged.
Meanwhile, the benchmark index CASPI at the Chittagong Stock Exchange (CSE) lost 26.94 points to 14,002.
Of the total 190 issues traded till then, 70 gained, 85 declined, and 35 issues remained unchanged with Tk11.1 crore in turnover.
