'Made in Bangladesh' doing well in Europe
The film also received several awards in different film festivals around the world.
Based on the life of a Bangladeshi garment worker and her struggles, internationally acclaimed film "Made in Bangladesh" is doing pretty well in theatres across Europe. The movie was released in France, Denmark and Portugal on December 4 this year. Following the success of its premier, the movie is still running in halls, well into its second week.

In its first week, the movie was shown in 53 cinema halls in France and in its second week, Made in Bangladesh was screened in 62 in France, 7 in Denmark and one in Portugal. As per the director, by the beginning of next year, the movie will get its release in Canada, America and several other countries.

When asked about the film's release in Bangladesh, producer, Adnan Imtiaz Ahmed said, "We are thinking about the movie's release in Bangladesh. It will be anytime around next year."
After being premiered at the "2019 Toronto International Film Festival", the movie was screened at the "63rd BFI London Film Festival". In addition, the film also received several awards in different film festivals around the world. Recently, the movie was awarded with the Interfedi Award (Award for the respect of minorities and secularism) at the 2019 Torino Film Festival and the best film (audience) and the jury award at France's "Amiens International Film Festival". In January of next year, the movie will take part at the 2020 Palm Springs International Film Festival.
Reflecting on the film's plot, director Rubaiyat Hossain said, "The movie 'Made in Bangladesh' shows, through the struggle and subsequent success of resilient women and how the apparel sector has made a contribution towards empowering them, besides making them self-reliant."
The cast of the movie include Rikita Nandini Shimu, Novera Rahman, Dipannita Martin, Parvin Paru, Mayabi Rahman, Mostofa Monwar, Shatabdi Wadud, Momena Chowdhury, Joy Raj, Wahida Mollick Jolly and Samina Luthfa among others. In addition, the movie will also include guest appearances from Mita Chowdhury and Indian actor Shahana Goswami.
"Made in Bangladesh" is Rubaiyat Hossain's third directorial venture with "Meherjaan" (2011) and "Under Construction" (2015) being the first and second respectively. She was also the producer of Aung Rakhine's directorial debut "The Last Post Office" (2018).
