People of coastal areas in Sundarbans are taking shelter in cyclone centres as cyclone Amphan is 290km away from Mongla port.
The river embankments became weak as the water level has risen in different rivers of the coastal area due to the effect of cyclone Amphan .
It is raining heavily after a while across the coastal area.
The authority of Mongla port said, 11 vessels including cargo ships were taken in a safe place.
Meteorologist of Khulna met office Amirul Islam Azad said, according to a web bulletin at around 12 pm, the super cyclone Ampan was 290 km southwest off Mongla port and 320 km southwest off Payra port. This is approaching slowly towards to Sundarbans coastal area.
"It will reach near Mongla port within 6pm today. It is assuming that the lowlands of coastal area may flooded under 10 to 12 feet high tidal wave than normal tide. Gusty wind is blowing up sometimes. 50mm rain has been recorded from 1pm Tuesday to 12pm on Wednesday in Khulna," he added.
