Rajshahi decided to stand with Greta Thunberg in her fight against climate change.
To show their solidarity, city dwellers formed a human chain on September 27 in Padma Garden in the city.
A number of kids, young and adults lined up at the spot with placards in their hands to express their stand against climate change.
"This city, which is known as the green city, faces the impacts of climate change like droughts on a regular basis and the extremity with which they are increasing is worrisome. This is why we can connect with the causes raised by Greta Thunberg. Climate change is a wide and humane issue and it is high time we do something about it," said Marcia Costa, organizer of the event.
One of the participants Syeed Shimul said, "The greenery of our Fine Arts department was compromised with to make space for railways, as informed by authorities. While rail communication is a must have for us, I just wish there were ways to do so without harming our trees."
Some activists also joined the event and agreed on the importance of working together to save the planet.
