Experts warn of decreasing nutritious food
Speakers at a BSA conference warned that Bangladesh is growing in population, while the amount of cultivable land is decreasing
The population in Bangladesh is increasing by the day alongside a decrease in the amount of cultivable land and delivering nutritious food for this growing population is a huge challenge, experts said at the 19th annual conference of Bangladesh Agronomy Society (BSA) on Saturday.
"We hope that after this conference, agronomists will be more diligent and play an important role in addressing these existing challenges," they said.
According to a press release, the conference was held at the Kazi Badrudduza Auditorium of Bangladesh Agricultural Research Institute (Bari).

The theme of this year's conference was 'Tailoring Agronomy for a Changing World,' it added.
Prof Dr Md Ghiashuddin Miah, vice-chancellor of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman Agricultural University (BSMRAU), Gazipur, addressed the conference as the chief guest.
President of BSA and former Director General of Bari Dr Md Rafiqul Islam Mondal presided over the conference.
Bari Director General Dr Md Nazirul Islam and Professor of BSMRAU Dr MA Karim were present as special guests.
Senior international consultant at the International Wheat and Maize Improvement Center (CIMMYT) Dr Moin Us Salam was the key-note speaker.
