Ferry returns as woman leaves her son onshore
The poor mother gets her son back on her lap
It was around 12:30pm. An emergency ferry was set to voyage from Shimulia Ferry Ghat to carry two ambulances and one vehicle with a dead body and few perishable goods-laden trucks.
When the ferry came to the ghat, along with these vehicles, the desperate people, who were waiting for a ferry, started competition to get into it. The ferry authority and members of law enforcement agencies failed to manage the flock.
Immediately after the ferry started for Banglabazar Ghat, a woman started crying. Asking her, other passengers came to know that she had left her six-year-old son onshore.
Being informed by the passengers, the ferry authorities decided to bring the vessel back to Shimulia Ghat and pick her son up.
"I am so happy getting my son back on my lap. I will pray for all who help me to make it happen", said the mother- Nilufar (not her real name)- with tears in her eyes after getting her son back on her lap.
She, a housewife, was going to her hometown in Banaripara along with her only son. Her husband is a service holder.
"My husband will come once his office goes on Eid vacation," she said.
