Kawasaki reveals latest KX 250XC and KX 450XC
The engines of both models feature an electric start, which is activated by the push of a button and powered by a compact Li-ion battery
Japanese automaker – Kawasaki launched the 2021 models of KX 250XC and KX 450XC this week. Both the bikes share similar frame, chassis, design, brake components, skid plate, and kick stand.
The 2021 model of KX450XC has been designed as the flagship model of the KX XC line-up.
It is powered by a 449cc liquid-cooled, four stroke, single cylinder, DOHC engine covered with a slim aluminum perimeter frame. The engine of the latest KX250XC comes with the same features as of KX450XC except its capacity which has been lowered down to 249cc. To increase the engine's performance, the piston on both the models features a dry film lubricant coating on the piston skirt to reduce friction.
The engines of both models feature an electric start, which is activated by the push of a button and powered by a compact Li-ion battery. It features a hydraulic clutch with a Nissin master cylinder. Also, the top-end, rod, piston, crank, and cams are completely new on the KX250XC.
Its close-ratio five speed transmission features lightweight gears and shafts to keep weight down yet retains strength. The KX450XC and KX250XC have shorter gearings than its counterparts - the KX450 and KX250. The transmission is paired with a coned disk-spring hydraulic clutch that contributes to a light clutch actuation and a wide clutch engagement range, which facilitates increased control.
The chassis of both models is made of a slim aluminum perimeter frame which provides precise cornering through excellent front-end feel and the ultimate agility when riding at high speeds.
The KX450XC and KX250XC are equipped with high-performance Showa 49 mm coil spring front forks with A-KIT technology. These fork feature large diameter inner tubes that are of the same size as those found on Kawasaki's factory racing team's bikes. At the rear sits a new Uni-Trak linkage system that is designed to work in-sync with the Showa shock, aluminum frame, and swingarm.
