Unleashing power and precision: Bajaj Pulsar N160 roars onto the scene
The Bajaj Pulsar N160 is an exhilarating blend of power and precision. Its specs lay the foundation for an unforgettable riding experience, while its handling propel it to the forefront of its segment
In the realm of power packed two wheelers in the local scene, the Bajaj Pulsar series has possibly been the longest running name. Equipped with power, precision, and unparalleled reliability, these bikes quickly became popular immediately after Bajaj began offering them in Bangladesh.
Bangladeshi bikers trained their eyes on the Bajaj Pulsar N250 when it was originally unveiled in India, back in 2021, to mark the 20th anniversary of the Pulsar series. But given the 165cc engine displacement limit, it wasn't possible to ride the N250 on local roads. In 2022 Bajaj finally launched the N160, and nearly a year later, it is finally available in Bangladesh through Uttara Motors Limited, the official distributor of Bajaj bikes in Bangladesh.
At the heart of the Pulsar N160 is a 165cc oil-cooled DTS-i engine that promises not just performance, but an experience that produces thrills. The 5-speed transmission provides seamless shifts that allow riders to harness its power to the fullest.
Speaking of power, the N160 boasts an impressive 16 PS, delivering that characteristic Pulsar punch. The torque stands strong at 14.65 Nm, ensuring instant and exhilarating acceleration. This bike doesn't just inch, it leaps off the starting line with instant torque and a low-end torque delivery that's nothing short of thrilling.
And let's not forget the underbelly exhaust note - aggressive and loud enough to turn heads, giving the N160 a distinctive auditory identity.
Despite going through a complete redesign, the first impression of N160 can be deceiving, given its apparent resemblance to the previous NS160 model which it replaced.
Riding the N160 for the first time, I was surprised at how light it felt, despite having a kerb weight of 154kg. Bajaj did a fantastic job with the body balance, which is quite apparent when taking corners with the N160. Something worth mentioning however is that shorter riders might find themselves grappling with its hefty weight.
The N160 received a new 'wolf eye' like headlight unit which, for the first time, offers LED projection headlight and the illumination game is strong with the N160! Not only does it light up the road, the DRLs themselves outshine the main headlights of some of its competitors.
The fuel tank cover has been resculpted to be curvier and can hold a maximum capacity of 14 liters. A new bezel-less instrument cluster will display real time fuel economy along with the regular speed, gear and others. The rpm meter has still been kept as analogue, which actually makes the bike look sportier.
Available in three captivating colours - Red, Blue, and Black - the N160 is a visual feast, captivating both enthusiasts and passersby.
There aren't many bikes out there which boast this level of confidence in the braking system. The Grimeca dual-channel ABS brakes translate to superior control. The one time I actually lost traction in sand, I could easily make up for it thanks to its superior body balance and the fantastic Eurogrip tyres which makes taking every high speed corner exciting.
Prior experience with Indian makes had left me expecting the N160 to have unbearable vibration, which surprisingly wasn't evident until I redlined. Although the tank cover heating up was a common issue during traffic, it was perhaps a quirk of its newness.
But the N160 isn't just about the rider; it has room for two. The split seats are generously wide, offering comfort for both the rider and the passenger, and could be made even better by adjusting the handlebar as per the rider's height.
In conclusion, the Bajaj Pulsar N160 is an exhilarating blend of power and precision. Its specs lay the foundation for an unforgettable riding experience, while its handling propel it to the forefront of its segment.
The Pulsar series has come a long way in 22 years and with the N160, Bajaj continues to honour its legacy and redefine the standards of motorcycle excellence.
So, whether you're craving a thrilling ride on an open highway or a nimble maneuver through city streets, the Bajaj Pulsar N160 stands ready to roar and rule the road.
