3rd Bangladesh Film Festival begins in Kolkata on Feb 5
Celebrated Bangladeshi film artistes Jaya Ahsan, Ferdous Ahmed, Purnima and others will join the festival as guests
Thirty-two Bangladeshi feature films will be screened during the five-day long 3rd Bangladesh Film Festival-2021, set to begin in Kolkata, West Bengal, on February 5.
Bangladesh Information Minister Dr Hasan Mahmud will inaugurate the festival, being organized under the auspices of the Ministry of Information of Bangladesh with the management of Bangladesh Deputy High Commission in Kolkata.
Minister for Science and Technology of West Bengal Government Bratya Basu will attend the festival as the guest of honour while Bangladesh High Commissioner to India Muhammad Imran and noted Film Director of India Gautam Ghosh will be present as the special guests.
Celebrated Bangladeshi film artistes Jaya Ahsan, Ferdous Ahmed, Riaz Ahamed, Dilara Hanif Purnima, among others, will join the festival as guests, sources at Bangladesh Deputy High Commission in Kolkata told BSS today.
The festival will begin with the screening of the film "Hasina: A Daughter's Tale", based on the life of Sheikh Hasina, the incumbent Prime Minister of Bangladesh and daughter of Father of the Nation Bangaabndhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman.
Two of the trustees of Center for Research and Information (CRI), a not-for profit policy think-tank and research Organization, Radwan Mujib Siddiq, and Nasrul Hamid, state minister for energy and mineral resources, were the producers of the film.
Other films, which will be screened during the five-day long festival include 'Jalaler Golpo', 'Krishnopokkho', 'Oggatonama', 'Rajadhiraj Razzak', 'Under Construction', 'Debi,' Podmo Patar Jol', 'Abar Boshonto', 'Maya: The Lost Mother', 'Na Dorai', 'Ankhi O Tar Bandhura', 'Fagun Haway', 'Iti Tomari Dhaka', 'Bhuban Majhi' and 'Pora Mon'.
Among the films, 'Jalaler Golpo', 'Krishnopokkho', 'Oggatonama', 'Rajadhiraj Razzak', 'Ankhi O Tar Bandhura', 'Fagun Haway' and 'Iti Tomari Dhaka' were produced by country's popular production house Impress Telefilm.
Besides, an art exhibition titled 'Bangabandhu and Bangladesh' will be held during the festival marking the birth centenary of Bangladesh's founding father Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman. A total of 100 photographs will be displayed at the exhibition to be held at 4:00 pm at the Academy of Fine Arts in Kolkata.
