Celebrities’ journey with Covid-19
Rezwana Choudhury Bannya, Sujeyo Shyam, Rabi Choudhury and Tama Mirza shared their experiences of fighting Covid-19 with The Business Standard.
Covid-19 has infected many renowned personalities. Even many celebrities have also fallen prey to the viral infection. The Business Standard spoke to some of the celebrities about their journey of sufferings and recovery from Covid-19.
Rezwana Choudhury Bannya
Renowned Rabindra Sangeet singer Rezwana Choudhury Bannya contracted Covid-19 towards the end of June. She did not admit to any hospital. She maintained self-isolation at home and followed physicians' advice properly. Though recently her coronavirus test report came back negative, she has not recovered fully yet.
Rezwana said, "The recovery from coronavirus infection is a very slow process. I think it will take more time. I have been going through different types of physical complications. I request all of you to pray for me so that I can get well soon."
The prominent Rabindra Sangeet exponent said she would come back to her work after her full recovery from this illness.
Sujeyo Shyam
Ekushey Padak winner and Shadhin Bangla Betar Kendra artiste Sujeyo Shyam got infected in May. He was admitted to Kurmitola General Hospital in Dhaka and he had undergone treatments there for 11 days. Though he is home now, he has not recovered fully. Sujeyo Shyam said, "I feel very weak now. I am suffering from sleep deprivation. I cannot walk properly. My haemoglobin in blood has dropped. I am trying to follow my physician's advice. Let's see what happens next."
However, he expressed his gratitude to the physicians and nurses of Kurmitola Hospital saying, "Due to proper medication and care from the doctors and nurses, I had a quick recovery. I am grateful to them."
Rabi Choudhury
Last month, popular singer Rabi Choudhury tested positive for coronavirus. He had taken treatment at Labaid Hospital in the capital for 20 days. "Now I am under complete rest at home. A few days ago, the Covid-19 test result came back negative. I am grateful to the Almighty and to all people, who prayed for me," said Rabi.
However, he has not fully recovered from the illness. So, he is now following his physician's advice properly. Rabi has also requested people to pray for his recovery.
Tama Mirza
Bangladesh National Film Award winning actress Tama Mirza and her whole family contracted coronavirus in the mid of July. However, all of them are fine now.
None of the family members, including her parents, had to take admission to any hospital. All of her family members received treatment home.
Tama said, "It is a serious disease. I pray from the core of my heart that nobody gets infected with the virus. It harms us physically a lot."
Some other media personalities
Not only the aforementioned personalities but also several other celebrities have won the battle against Covid-19. Of them, veteran actor Prabir Mitra recently recovered from this disease. Meanwhile, another popular film actress Popy contracted the virus. She is now in isolation in Khalishpur of Khulna. The good news is that she is getting well.
The deadly virus has claimed lives of several other personalities. Renowned journalist and cultural personality Kamal Lohani, former general manager and producer of Bangladesh Television Mohammad Barkatullah (father of actress Bijori Barkatullah) and eminent artist Murtaza Bashir died of Covid-19 infection recently.
