Deepto TV’s voice artists are becoming popular
The contribution of the voice artists is significant in making many foreign serials and cartoons popular in Bangladesh
On the onset of Deepto TV's journey, it has aired the popular Turkish serial Sultan Suleiman dubbed in Bangla. Soon after its release, it has become a household TV series in Bangladesh. From Sultan Suleiman to currently popular serial Bahar, Deepto TV's dubbing team has been working relentlessly behind the camera to give success to all characters of the dubbed serials and cartoons.
The Business Standard has recently talked to Deepto TV's dubbing team. Most of its members are working as voice artists. Some of them are appointed as freelancers.
Regarding the work process, voice director Jayshree Majumder Lata said they receive most of the scripts of foreign serials in their respective languages which are translated into Bangla later. After editing the dialogues to make it suitable for the audience, it is matched with the lip movements of the artists. Then the video is recorded. And, only after re-editing, it becomes ready to go for broadcast.
Some artists have shared their experiences as voice artists.
Marina Mitu, who has given voice to Bahar, the central character of the popular series Bahar, said, "We are not seen on screen but we get into the character with our voice. It seemed a very difficult task at first but after doing this for a long time; it has become much easier now."
These voice artists have enormous contributions in making the serials worth watching because for dubbing, you have to talk, smile and cry like the real characters.
"Many people don't know us but we rejoice when we see the character we dubbed become famous. I feel that I'm the character," said Nahid Akhtar Emu, a voice artist for Jale Demir, one of Bahar's characters.
Another voice artist, Maru Bhaskar, said, "Voice artists are valued all over the world. Many big stars have been admired for their voice. Over the past six years, Deepto TV has created a sector for professional voice artists. I think this section of media will boost in a very short time."
The following voice artists have given voice to various characters in the popular serial Bahar:
