Sony Pictures Animation has released the first official trailer for the upcoming Hotel Transylvania 4. The long-awaited fantasy-comedy film will reportedly also be the final film in the Hotel Transylvania franchise, and will see Genndy Tartakovsky, who directed the three prior films and co-wrote the third, returning as the screenwriter on this fourth installment.

The Hotel Transylvania franchise has been a big hit for Sony Pictures Animation since the first movie came out in 2012. The series offers a lighter, more kid-friendly take on classic monsters like Count Dracula, Frankenstein, and The Invisible Man. Created by Todd Durham, the franchise now boasts four movies, three short films, graphic novels, video games, and a Disney Channel TV series.
Not much is known about the film's story at this time, though many cast members from previous movies in the franchise are returning. One exception is Adam Sandler, who voiced Dracula in the first three films. The character will still play a role in Hotel Transylvania 4, but he'll be voiced by Brian Hull instead.
Based on this trailer, it seems like the long-running series is going out with a bang. A Freaky Friday homage suits the light-hearted franchise perfectly, and it will be fun to see Johnny and Drac's antics in the film as they acclimate to essentially trading places. Though it seems likely the status quo will be restored by the time Hotel Transylvania 4 ends, it should be a fun ride for audiences.
The trailer also gives more insight into Hull's performance as Dracula. It seems like it will be a pretty seamless transition that shouldn't affect the movie too much.
Hopefully, Hotel Transylvania 4 brings the franchise to a satisfying conclusion.
