Tom Hanks to play Geppetto in Disney’s ‘Pinocchio’
The project would reunite Zemeckis and Hanks, who have previously worked together on 1994’s “Forrest Gump"
Disney is eyeing the Oscar winner and Hollywood's heartthrob Tom Hanks to star in an adaptation of the acclaimed "Pinocchio".
According to Deadline, the actor is in early negotiations to play Geppetto, the creator of Pinocchio. Hanks has reached out to Robert Zemeckis as he is very much interested in the film.
Robert Zemeckis and Tom Hanks have previously collaborated in the iconic "Forrest Gump" movie were they both won Oscars for their work in respective categories. This would be the 4th collaboration between the two. The other two being the movie Cast Away and The Polar Express.

Pinocchio's live-action adaptation is the latest in Disney's strategy to bring these classics to live-action medium. The last two live-action adaptations, Aladin and The Lion King have grossed above the billion dollar milestone.
Hanks was last seen in WW2 film Greyhound and will star in the much hyped Elvis Presley biopic alongside Austin Butler.
It's Hanks' another children film after "A Beautiful Day in the Neighbourhood" where he portrayed the lovable Mr. Rogers.
