TCB to procure 1.65cr litres of edible oil from local suppliers
The Trading Corporation of Bangladesh (TCB) will purchase 1.65 crore litres of edible oil to supply it at a low price to one crore poor families of the country.
In a virtual meeting presided over by Finance Minister AHM Mustafa Kamal, the Cabinet Committee on Public Purchase approved the proposal of buying soybean oil from three edible oil refinery companies of the country at a cost of Tk305 crore yesterday, said Md Abdul Barik, additional secretary of the Cabinet Division.
Super Oil Refinery, City Edible Oil Limited and Meghna Edible Oils Refinery Limited will supply the oil.
The committee also approved a proposal to purchase 90,000 tonnes of fertiliser including TSP and urea. The total cost of buying 60,000 tonnes of urea from Qatar and 30,000 tonnes of TSP from Morocco will be Tk637 crores.
The committee has also approved the National Curriculum and Textbook Board's proposal for printing, binding and distributing Tk11.2 crore textbooks at a cost of Tk489 crores.
These textbooks will be distributed free of cost to primary and secondary level students in the academic year 2023.
Moreover, the committee yesterday approved the construction of a 1,002 metre long bridge over Ghorautra River in Mithamain upazila of Kishoreganj district. A company named Max Infrastructure will carry out the work at a cost of Tk146 crore.
The committee also approved the construction of a 606 metre bridge over the Brahmaputra River in Sadar upazila of Jamalpur district. Chowdhury Enterprises and Rastructure Limited will construct the bridge costing Tk253 crore.
