Dengue claims 11 more lives, highest in a day this year
Eleven more people have died from dengue in the last 24 hours till this morning (24 November), marking the highest single-day death toll this year.
With the latest casualties, the number of deaths from the mosquito-borne disease in Bangladesh this year now stands at 459.
In the recent fatalities, four were reported in the Dhaka South City Corporation (DSCC), five in the Dhaka North City Corporation (DNCC), and two in the Khulna Division.
During this period, 1,079 dengue infected people got admitted to different hospitals in the country, according to the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS).
A total of 86,791 dengue cases have been reported since 1 January.
Last year, 1,705 people lost their lives due to dengue, making it the deadliest year on record.
The DGHS recorded 321,179 dengue cases and 3,18,749 recoveries last year.
