Orbis Flying Eye Hospital's training project ends in Ctg
The training programme was inaugurated on 17 November
The closing ceremony of the Orbis Flying Eye Hospital's training project, organised for the 11th time in Bangladesh, was held at the Chattogram Eye Hospital and Training Centre of Pahartali in Chattogram today (28 November).
The training programme was inaugurated on 17 November.
The training activities were conducted by the Orbis Flying Eye Hospital, stationed at Shah Amanat International Airport, and Orbis's partner institution, Chattogram Eye Hospital and Training Centre.
Around 170 doctors from various hospitals participated in the training programme.
Speakers at the closing ceremony said that the Orbis Flying Eye Hospital has completed its 11th training project in Bangladesh and the 5th in Chattogram, with the two-week programme achieving its goals.
They said the experience gained through this training will enable ophthalmologists to advance in the field.
The project was supported by Alcon Cares, Alcon Foundation, FedEx, the Ophthalmological Society of Bangladesh, the Bangladesh College of Physicians and Surgeons, and National Eye Care.
Orbis has conducted over 7.8 million eye examinations in Bangladesh, provided medical and optical services to more than 4.5 million adults and children, assisted over 2,58,000 eye surgeries, and trained over 40,000 doctors.
Maurice Gary, director of Orbis Flying Eye Hospital; Dr Munir Ahmed, country director of Orbis International Bangladesh; and Group Captain Sheikh Abdullah Al Mamun, director of Shah Amanat International Airport, among others, spoke at the event.
