FBCCI mourns death of Transcom Group Chairman Latifur Rahman
Latifur had been suffering from health complications for a long time
The Federation of Bangladesh Chambers of Commerce and Industries (FBCCI) President Sheikh Fazle Fahim has expressed his deepest shock over the demise of former director of FBCCI and Transcom Group Chairman Latifur Rahman, reads a press release.
In his statement, Fahim also said that Latifur was the director of FBCCI in the 1994-1996 term.
Born in 1945, Latfiur left behind his wife Shahnaz Rahman, one son, two daughters and a bunch of relatives and well-wishers to mourn his death.

He had been suffering from health complications for a long time, and spent his last days in his village in Chauddagram upazila under Cumilla district, reads the press release.
The 74-year-old businessman was the top executive of business conglomerate Transcom Group. The group is involved in businesses like fast food, beverages, electrical and electronic goods, medicine, newspapers, tea industry, and insurance among others.
Transcom Group is now one of the largest corporations in Bangladesh, with 16 companies under it. It has 10,000 employees altogether.
Latifur was also the chairman of Nestlé Bangladesh Limited, LafargeHolcim Bangladesh, and National Housing Finance and Investment.
He was the governing body director of Linde Bangladesh Limited and non-governmental organisation Brac.
Also, Latifur was the vice-president of ICC Bangladesh, adds the statement.
His death is an irreparable damage for the country and the nation, said Fahim in the statement.
"We are shocked to lose him. And we seek salvation of the departed soul. We also express our deepest sympathy to his bereaved family," said the FBCCI president in the message.
