Bangladesh Open University and DYD signed MoU for youth empowerment
A Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was signed today, 4 December 2024, between Bangladesh Open University (BOU) and the Directorate of Youth Development (DYD) under the Ministry of Youth and Sports (MOYS). The ceremony took place at the Academic Council Meeting Room of Dhaka Regional Centre, Bangladesh Open University.
The MoU was signed by Gazi Md Saifuzzaman, Director General (Grade-1) of the Directorate of Youth Development, and Professor Dr A.B.M. Obaidul Islam, Vice-Chancellor of Bangladesh Open University.
Speaking at the ceremony, Vice-Chancellor Professor Dr A.B.M. Obaidul Islam remarked, "This collaboration is a milestone in our mission to democratise education and empower marginalised communities through innovative and inclusive approaches. By integrating technical education with open and distance learning methods, the programme will offer accessible, skill-based education to the underserved. This joint initiative will significantly contribute to creating employment opportunities and fostering socio-economic development for the country's unemployed youth."
Pro Vice-Chancellor (Academic) Professor Dr Dil Rowshan Jinnat Ara Nazneen, Pro Vice-Chancellor (Administration) Professor Dr Sayeed Ferdous, Dean of Open School Professor Dr Mosa Shireen Sultana, Director of BOU EARN Cell Professor Dr Sabina Yasmin, and Kazi Mokhlesur Rahman, Director of the EARN project of the Directorate of Youth Development, also spoke at the event.
The event was conducted by Dr Md Mizanur Rahman, Coordinator of the BOU NEET Programme, while Deputy Director (Admin & Procurement) of the EARN Project, Professor Dr Md Sirajul Islam, was also present.
Deans, faculty members, directors, and other officials attended the MoU signing ceremony, marking a significant step toward empowering youth through education and training.
