'Long march to Agartala': Bangladesh won't compromise on sovereignty, Jubodal president says
We are not compromising on these principles. Bangladesh is the heartbeat of our lives. We are not afraid of anyone's evil eye, he says
The people of Bangladesh are prepared to take any risk to safeguard the nation's independence and sovereignty, Jatiyatabadi Jubodal Central Committee President Abdul Monayem Munna said today (11 December).
"We are not compromising on these principles. Bangladesh is the heartbeat of our lives. We are not afraid of anyone's evil eye," the Jubodal leader made these remarks at a rally after the completion of the long march of BNP associate bodies in Brahmanbaria's Akhaura.
Condemning India's negligence and actions about failing to provide security to the Bangladesh High Commission, he said, "You [India] must see Bangladesh as a neighbouring country. We want to clearly state that Bangladesh has no external lords."
"We consider our neighbours as friendly countries," he added.
Munna also urged the interim government to bring Sheikh Hasina back from India immediately and tried.
Earlier in the morning, BNP's associate bodies — Jatiyatabadi Jubo Dal, Swechchasebak Dal, and Chhatra Dal — started their long march towards Agartala, India, protesting the attack on Bangladesh Assistant High Commission, disrespect to the national flag, and alleged attempts to provoke communal unrest.
The long march started from in front of the BNP central office in Nayapaltan in the capital. They reached Akhaura in the afternoon.
