Dr Akash suicide: Wife Mitu released on bail
Mitu was released after the order of her permanent bail granted by the High Court reached the jail, he said.
Tanzila Haq Chowdhury Mitu, who was arrested for instigating the suicide of her husband Dr Mustafa Murshed Akash, was released from jail on Wednesday evening after over seven and half months.
She walked out of Chittagong Central Jail around 7pm, said its Deputy Jailer Abdus Salam.
Mitu was released after the order of her permanent bail granted by the High Court reached the jail, he said.
On August, she secured bail from the High Court.
Akash, 33, reportedly killed himself in Chandgaon residential area of the city in the early hours of February 1 last after an altercation with his wife Mitu about her alleged illicit affairs.
On the same day, police arrested Mitu over the suicide.
Family members said before his apparent suicide, Akash had shared photos of his wife on his Facebook profile and wrote about her alleged extramarital affairs before announcing his decision to end own life.
Akash's mother Jobeda Khanam filed a case with Chandgaon Police Station accusing Mitu, Mitu's father Anisul Haque Chowdhury and mother Shamim Shelly, sister Sanzila Haque Chowdhury, her alleged boyfriends Mahbubul Haque and an Indian citizen Uttam Patel.
