24,700 tonnes of Indian rice, first consignment since August, to arrive tomorrow
The rice is being imported under contract No-381, signed on 11 November. This is going to be the first consignment of parboiled rice from India under the contract
A consignment of 24,690 tonnes of imported Indian rice, the first since the interim government took charge in August, will arrive in the country early tomorrow (26 January).
The rice, bought under an open tender contract, will be transported by MV Tanais Dream and reach Chattogram Port at 5:30am, said a press release published by the food ministry today (25 December).
The rice is being imported under contract No-381, signed on 11 November. This is going to be the first consignment of parboiled rice from India under the contract.
Officials will begin unloading the rice immediately after testing the physical samples of the goods.
Necessary steps have been taken in this regard, said the release.
