Chilly winter, morning car meet: Super Tuner 8.0 returns in style
The car that stole the show, was the country’s only Nissan GTR R35 Nismo, an absolute beast that turned heads with its aggressive stance
As the sun peeked over Dhaka's empty weekend roads on Friday, 27th of December, car enthusiasts throttled down to Purbachal Expressway in front of International Convention Center Bashundhara (ICCB). Super Tuner 8.0 roared to life, bringing nearly 50 of Bangladesh's most spectacular cars to the spotlight.
As most of the members arrived at ICCB, the convoy braved the cold breeze and headed out for a chilly winter drive. Leading the pack was Wasi Uddin, one of the founding members of Super Tuner, with his Nissan Skyline 350GT.
The drive ended at The Forest King Restaurant, the pre-announced venue at Purbachal where the Super Tuner 8.0 was to be held. The event brought together a showcase of classic cars, modified street cars and several renowned Japanese and European exotics.
The car that stole the show however, was the country's only Nissan GTR R35 Nismo, an absolute beast that turned heads with its aggressive stance. Right beside it was a Porsche Boxster in a blue-red combo. A yellow Mitsubishi Evolution IX and a purple Toyota Chaser Tourer, both rumoured to push beyond 500 bhp, also turned heads with their vibrant appeal. Among a sea of engineering marvels, a single E92 BMW M3, known to be a purist's delight, held its own.
However, it wasn't just the fast sedans and sportscars, a classic and modern Land Rover Defender 90 duo followed by one Toyota Land Cruiser L200 and Toyota FJ Cruiser brought rugged charm to the lineup. Other notable mentions include various Toyota Supras and Nissan 350z which paid homage to JDM legends and a fleet of Mitsubishi Evolutions and Subaru STIs carrying the torch for rally warriors. The German side of engineering was also well-represented with a CLA45 hatchback zipping onto the scene, alongside a few stylish Nissan 350Zs.
One of the key traditions of Super Tuner meets is the complimentary food. This year, attendees were treated to an early morning breakfast featuring specially cooked beef, a heartwarming addition to the event by the organisers.
Super Tuner is one of the largest exotic car groups in Bangladesh. Once upon a time, it hosted annual invite-only exclusive car meets, bringing nearly all of Bangladesh's exotic lineup of vehicles and their owners in one place. Since 2020 however, the COVID-19 pandemic forced the group to limit themselves to socially distanced drives. Years of absence later though, the group returned with the grandeur event– the Super Tuner 8.0.
