Seven arrested, two dredgers seized in Chandpur sand mining crackdown
Acting on a tip-off, the Bangladesh Coast Guard, Dhaka Zone, conducted a special operation at Baherchar Bazar and Nasirakandi areas under Matlab North Thana in Chandpur.
During this operation, which commenced at 2 AM on Sunday, January 12, 2025, the Coast Guard apprehended seven individuals involved in illegal sand mining and two dredgers.
The estimated market value of the seized dredgers is 16 million taka. The seized dredgers and the arrested individuals have been handed over to Mohanpur Naval Police for further legal action.
