Former Satkania MP Nadvi shown arrested in five more cases in Ctg
Senior Judicial Magistrate Mominun Nisa Khanam issued the order after a hearing based on a request from the police
A Chattogram court today (12 January) ordered former Member of Parliament (MP) of Satkania-Lohagara constituency Dr Abu Reza Muhammad Nadvi to be shown arrested in five additional cases.
The court also instructed the jail authorities to ensure necessary medical treatment and prison facilities following a petition from his lawyer.
Senior Judicial Magistrate Mominun Nisa Khanam issued the order after a hearing based on a request from the police.
According to Chattogram District Court Inspector Habibur Rahman, "The police applied for a 7-day remand for Dr Nadvi in connection with three cases filed with Lohagara Police Station and two cases with Satkania Police Station. However, the court rejected the remand plea and directed that he be shown arrested and sent to prison in these cases."
Dr. Nadvi was brought to court under strict security at 9am.
After the proceedings, he was sent back to Chattogram Jail under the same security measures.
Previously, on 15 December 2024, Dr Nadvi was arrested by the Detective Branch (DB) of police from Uttara area in Dhaka.
There have been several cases filed against him in Chattogram.
In addition, police had earlier shown him arrested in a murder case involving the killing of Khalid Hasan Saifullah, a student of Dhaka Ideal College.
The court in Dhaka had granted a one-day remand after the police sought a 10-day remand for interrogation in that case.
