Shah Cement fined Tk4 lakh in Munshiganj for violating environmental laws
A Munshiganj court has fined Tk4 lakh to Shah Cement Industries Limited for violating environmental laws.
Special Magistrate for Environment and Senior Judicial Magistrate Ifti Hasan Imran gave the order today, imposing the fine on General Manager Mostafizur Rahman, on behalf of the company.
A drive was carried out from 3:00pm to 6:00pm at the Shah Cement factory located in the West Mukterpur area, where the company was found in violation of the Air Pollution Control Rules 2022 through improper disposal of waste and leaving construction materials exposed.
Shah Cement was fined Tk2 lakh for each offense.
In case of non-payment, the general manager would face one-month imprisonment.
Additionally, the company has been given six months to implement measures to prevent air pollution.
The drive was attended by Special and Senior Judicial Magistrate Shahidul Islam, Assistant Director of the Department of Environment Md Sanwar Hossain, and two police teams from the Munshiganj Police Station and Police Lines.
