Biting cold batters Panchagarh with mercury dropping to 9.5°C
On the first day of Bangla month Magh, the northwestern district of Panchagarh was covered in dense fog, disrupting daily life. Temperatures dropped to 9.5°C at 9am today (15 January).
As of filing this report at 10:45am, the sunlight wasn't seen while the vehicles were moving with headlights on to avoid an accident.
People are not going outside unless it's urgent amid the chilly breeze blowing from the Himalayas. The low-income people, children, and senior citizens are the worst sufferers of the biting cold.
Jitendranath Roy, officer-in-charge of Tetulia Weather Observation Centre, said they recorded temperature at 9.5°C at 9am with a 100% humidity.
He, however, said the district saw a temperature of 9.4°C yesterday.
