The investigation comes after allegations of their involvement in corruption, abuse of power, illegal acquisition of government land, money laundering, and the accumulation of illicit assets both in Bangladesh and abroad, ACC Director General Akhtar Hossain confirmed to The Business Standard today (15 January).
Akhtar Hossain said Saima Wazed Putul was appointed as the regional director of the World Health Organization (WHO) through various corrupt practices.

Additionally, the ACC has decided to investigate allegations against Tofazzal Hossain Mia, former chief secretary to the former prime minister, for money laundering, bribery, and other corrupt practices, which allegedly led to the accumulation of illicit wealth worth crores of taka.
