Israeli attacks continue as Gaza celebrates ceasefire deal
As the bombing continues, the northern Gaza region remains the most affected, with residents enduring displacement, hunger, and relentless violence for over 467 days
Just hours after the announcement of a ceasefire agreement from Doha, set to take effect on Sunday, Israeli warplanes launched direct airstrikes on hospitals, shelters, and homes, extinguishing the brief moment of joy.
As the bombing continues, the northern Gaza region remains the most affected, with residents enduring displacement, hunger, and relentless violence for over 467 days, reports Al Jazeera.
According to Al Jazeera, there has been a complete shift in al-Aqsa Hospital with people bursting into celebrations the moment they heard the news about a ceasefire agreement between Hamas and Israel. That news was followed by the announcement from the Qatari prime minister that the deal will not take effect until Sunday.
The office of the Israeli prime minister has issued a statement on the ceasefire agreement. "An official statement by Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu will be issued only after the completion of the final details of the agreement, which are being worked on at present."
Negotiators reached a deal on Wednesday for a ceasefire in the Gaza war between Israel and Hamas, an official briefed on the negotiations told Reuters, after 15 months of conflict that has killed tens of thousands of Palestinians and inflamed the Middle East.
