Salman, Anisul, 3 others remanded in fresh cases
A Dhaka court today (20 January) placed five people including Salman F Rahman, former private industry affairs adviser to ousted prime minister Sheikh Hasina, and former law minister Anisul Huq on different terms of remand in two separate murder cases filed at Jatrabari police station.
The three other remanded accused are Hasanul Haque Inu, Rashed Khan Menon and former inspector general of police (IGP) Chowdhury Abdullah Al-Mamun.
Additional Chief Metropolitan Magistrate Ziadur Rahman passed the orders as police produced the five accused before the court and pleaded to place them on different terms of remand in the cases.
The five accused were placed on a five-day remand each in a case filed over the killing of Jisan during the anti-discrimination student movement.
Anisul, Menon, and Inu were put on another five-day remand in the case lodged over the murder of Mehedi Hasan.
Jisan and Mehedi were shot and killed by police and Awami League cadres on 20 July and 18 July, respectively, as they both joined the anti-discrimination student movement rallies in the Jatrabari area.
