NBR asks banks to freeze accounts of Regent's Shahed, JKG's Sabrina
The National Board of Revenue (NBR) today asked all commercial banks to freeze the accounts of Regent Group Chairman Mohammad Shahed, JKG Healthcare Chairman Dr Sabrina Arif Chowdhury, her family members and their organisations.
NBR Central Intelligence Cell sent the letters to the banks today asking for details of those accounts, high official in NBR confirmed it to The Business Standard.
Two branches of Regent Hospital – owned by Shahed – were sealed off for allegedly faking Covid-19 test certificates and over other irregularities. Shahed is on the run since law enforcers started the raids in his organisations.
Meanwhile, police will produce Dr Sabrina Arif Chowdhury, the chairman of JKG Health Care, before the Dhaka Chief Metropolitan Magistrate Court Monday over fake Covid-19 test result scam. She was arrested on Sunday afternoon.
