Titumir College students barricade road with bamboo on day 5 of hunger strike
Four students fell ill and are receiving treatment at Suhrawardy Hospital
The hunger strike by students of Government Titumir College demanding official recognition for the institution as an independent university has entered its fifth day.
Students blocked both sides of the road at 12pm today (2 February) in front of their college in Mohakhali using bamboo barricades.
Traffic between Mohakhali and Gulshan came to a complete halt due to the blockade. Students occupied the road, chanting slogans in support of their demands.
Meanwhile, as the road was suddenly blocked, passengers engaged in conversations with the protesting students, requesting them to clear the way. The students said they would not leave until their demands were met.
Students continued their hunger strike as of 11am today. Four students have fallen ill and are currently receiving treatment at Suhrawardy Hospital.
