Swechhasebak Dal leader killed in Narayanganj
The deceased was identified as Mamun Hossain, 40, son of local Samon Ali of Purbo Lalpur area under the upazila
Unknown attackers gunned down thana-level Swechhasebak Dal leader in Fatullah upazila of Narayanganj, police said today (7 February).
The deceased was identified as Mamun Hossain, 40, son of local Samon Ali of Purbo Lalpur area under the upazila. He held the post of upazila unit joint convenor of the BNP's voluntary wing Swechhasebak Dal.
The deceased's elder brother Amzad Hossain said Mamun, a rod, cement and sand trader by profession, returned to the house late at night from his shop in Lalpur area.
Responding to a call, he came out of the house early morning (Friday), he said, adding that Mamun's employee Azad, who was asleep inside the shop, heard the sound of firing and came out of the shop.
Azad spotted Mamun in a bullet-hit condition in front of the shop, the elder brother said.
Though he was rushed to 350-bed Narayanganj General Hospital, physicians declared him dead, he said.
Amzad said there was a dispute between Mamun and an Awami League leader over business and it might have led to the killing.
Officer-in-Charge of Fatullah Police Station Shariful Islam said they spotted two jacket-wearing youths with Mamun from the CCTV footage.
Police were trying to identify them and a case would be filed in this connection, he added.
